Prince George youth athletes excelled on the ice and snow, winning a bounty of medals at the 2014 B.C. Winter Games in Mission last week.
In total, 90 athletes from Prince George competed for Zone 8, Cariboo North East.
On the short track speed skating rink, Callie Swan of the Prince George Blizzard won four individual gold medals.
She raced to gold in the U16 1,000-metre super final and the 1,500m. She also won gold in the race 1 and 2 of the 500m.
Blizzard skater Eric Orlowsky was part of the Zone 8 team that included Fort St. John racers Rene Kalkman, Eryn Stickel and Kaden Hagen that won bronze in the U14 2,000m relay.
"Callie was one of the favourites in her category and lived up to her billing," said Zone 8 speed skating co-ordinator Corine Masich.
Justin Hampole won the pre-novice men's figure skating title with a personal best overall score of 69.91 points.
Hampole, a member of the Northern B.C. Centre for Skating, posted a personal best of 25.61 points in the short program and another PB of 44.30 points in the free skate to win gold.
At the curling rink, Alyssa Connell and her team from the Prince George Golf and Curling Club won silver.
The local rink, which includes third Jordan Henson, second Jennilee Slaney and lead Julianne Slaney, lost 8-1 in the final to Dezaray Hawes rink from New Westminster's Royal City Curling Club.
Connell posted a 1-1 round-robin record to finish second in Pool B.
She advanced to the semifinal where she beat Bailey Tinkler of Juan de Fuca 6-3. Connell scored a single in the first end, a deuce in the fifth and added three more in the eighth end for the win.
On the biathlon range, Claire Lapointe won gold in the senior girls 6km sprint, clocking a time of 25:15 minutes. She was on target in the range, missing only three of 10 total shots.
Lapointe also won silver in the senior girls 7.5km individual race. She clocked a time of 40 minutes and 29 seconds to finish three minutes, 40 seconds behind Tekarra Banser from Thompson Okanagan's Zone 2. Lapointe missed nine out of 20 targets.
Bobby Kreitz won silver in the senior boys 6km sprint, posting a time of 23:39 and only missed four out of 10 targets. He was 30 seconds behind gold medal winner Jarod Algra of the Fraser Valley's Zone 2.
Indoors, Prince George gymnasts won four medals.
Alia Wilson won bronze in the individual bars and floor to finish fifth all-around. Naraa Little balanced to bronze on the individual beam and Reid Powers tumbled to silver in the individual floor.
