P.G. wrestlers earn berths at Canadians

A total of eight local teenaged wrestlers have booked entry for nationals.

A total of eight local teenaged wrestlers have booked entry for nationals.

Members of the Prince George Wrestling Club were at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops on the weekend, entered in the Western Canadian Age-Class event, and secured berths in the Canadian championships, slated for April in Burnaby.

Leading the way was gold medallist Tatiana Ivens, who captured gold in the 64-kilogram female division. Snagging silver were Alex Semeniuk (51kg male), Pierce Watson (76kg male), Hailee Pitkethly (54kg female), Jordan Marshall (57kg male), Evan Smith (54kg male) and Hayden Smith (60kg male), and taking bronze medals was Dylan Turmel (63kg male).

Many of the athletes will head to Prince Rupert in a few weeks for the Northern B.C. Winter Games.
