Two Prince George schools had teams competing at the B.C. School Sports High School ski and snowboard provincial championship in Smithers last weekend.
The D.P. Todd secondary Trojans' snowboarding team consisted of Evan Bichon, Lynden Chartrand, Curtis Evans, Dawson McKinnon, Tyler Robertson and Ben Walls, while the College Heights Cougars participants included Daniel Blondin, Justin Harrison, David Helkenberg, Sheldon Stanley, Ben Stratton and Casey Tazelaar. Meryeta O'Dine also qualified as an individual competitor.
Bichon won a gold medal in the boarder cross and the bronze medal over all, while O'Dine won the gold medal in the technical competition, finished third in the boarder cross and took the overall silver medal.
The Trojans team placed sixth in the technical race, fourth in the boarder cross and was fifth overall, while the Cougars were ninth in the technical race, won the bronze medal in boarder cross and placed sixth overall. Harrison won the individual bronze medal in boarder cross.
At the zone competition to qualify for the provincial championship, held Feb. 7-8 in Fort St. James, the Trojans won the silver medal and the Cougars won bronze in snowboarding. O'Dine won gold as an individual to qualify for the provincial tournament.
