Two teams from the Prince George Golf and Curling Club have qualified for the B.C. Winter Games, which will double as the juvenile provincial championships.

The Dustin Withey and Alyssa Connell rinks advanced to the Games by winning zone playdowns in Williams Lake on the weekend.

Withey took two of three games from Christian Taylor of 100 Mile House. Withey won the opener 5-3 and then lost 6-2. In the deciding game, he prevailed 7-5. A quick start was the key, as Withey scored two in the first end and stole a single point in the second end for a 3-0 lead. He was up 5-1 after the fourth but Taylor scored three in the fifth to close the gap. Withey responded with a deuce in the sixth end and Taylor scored one in the seventh. In the eighth and final end, Withey ran Taylor out of rocks.

The other members of the Withey rink are Brendan Carswell, Coleton Vriesendorp and James Brown. The fifth is Tyler Slaney and the coach is Troy Withey.

On the girls side, Connell beat out another Prince George rink -- skipped by Carly Connor -- for the spot in provincials. In the final game, Connell trailed Connor 3-2 after six ends but scored three in the seventh and held on for the 5-3 win.

Connell opened zones with a 6-4 loss to Hannah Lindner of 100 Mile House but rebounded for a 6-1 victory against Connor and an 8-3 victory against Lindner.

In Connor's other game, she beat Lindner 4-1.

Connell's team includes Jordan Henson, Jennilee Slaney, Julianne Slaney, fifth player Bailey Eberherr and coach Wayne Colliss.

Connor's rink is rounded out by Jessie Withey, Erin Ross, Carsyn Hamilton and coach Doug Dalziel.

The B.C. Winter Games are Feb. 20-23 in Mission.
