Positives are hard to find for Canada at the 2013 World Baseball Challenge.
But, despite a 22-10 loss, dropping Canada to 0-4, against Cuba's Ciego de Avila Tigres there were a handful of bright spots to take from Sunday's game and build on. First of all, Canada was the first team to put up 10 runs on the Cubans - in their previous three games combined Cuba only allowed seven runs.
Canada coach Darren Doucette also said the Prince George players have played their role for the team.
"They're guys that we can plug in there and carry the load for us late in the game if we're down," said Doucette. "They're used to playing here and I was very impressed with the way they came out and competed."
Cole Laviolette, a year removed from playing with the Prince George IDL Midget Knights, added the final run when he earned his trip around the bases on a fielder's choice and showed his speed by scoring from second in the ninth inning on a shallow single by Jeremy Kral.
"He's a raw talent right now and with some work he's going to be a very good ball player," said Doucette.
