The Flip City Invitational gymnastics meet was held last Saturday in Abbotsford where several competitors from the Prince George Gymnastics Club returned home with medals in both the artistic and trampoline events.
In the Level 2 division for athletes over 12, Reid Powers earned silver on the floor exercise and took bronze on the uneven bars and in the all-around, while Erica Hirtz returned with gold on bars and silver on the balance beam. Aly Muir placed sixth on bars, floor and in the all-around.
Rhiana Palfy took gold on the bars in the Level 3 novice division and was second on floor and in the all-around, while Mekenna Parker vaulted to silver and took bronze on bars and in the all-around. Mary-Kate Barwise took bronze on vault.
In the Level 3 open category, Miranda Doerksen brought home five medals - gold on vault, silver on bars and a trio of bronze for beam, floor and the all-around. Tianna Millns tied with Doerksen on floor for a share of the bronze.
Lina Goto and Milan Knight placed 1-2 on all events including the all-around in the Level 5 open division, with Goto earning five gold medals and Knight picking up five silvers. Next for Knight is the trials at the Western Canadian Championship in Langley on March 10.
Alia Wilson, a pre-novice aspire gymnast, will attend trials in Surrey, March 3.
The British Columbia provincial gymnastics championship will be held April 5-7 at UNBC.
n Trampoline results
In the provincial Level 1 category for women 13 and over, Rayne Janzen was third, Alicia Strizich (4th) and Caroline Kinnee (6th), while Brook-Lynn Kinnee was fourth in the Level 2 (14 and over) division.
Ben Garcia was third in the Level 2 (14 plus) men's division and fourth in the double mini tramp. In the Level 1 (13 plus) women's double mini tramp, Caroline Kinnee and Rayne Janzen placed fifth and 10th, respectively, while Brook-Lynn Kinnee was fifth in the Level 2 (14 plus) women's category.
