Four Prince George players have been named to Team North for B.C. Hockey's Under-16 Female B.C. Cup tournament.
After a weekend selection camp in Williams Lake, P.G. products Avery Quiring, Grace Barlow, Jordan Shanks and Kate Arnold were informed they had earned roster spots for the B.C. Cup, April 4-7 in Duncan. Quiring is a goaltender, Barlow plays defence and Shanks and Arnold are forwards. All four players skate for the Prince George bantam female Cougars, a team coached by Terri Pfliger.
Two Quesnel residents who also suit up for the Cats, Sydney Jordan and Katie Young, made Team North as well. Jordan is a defenceman and Young is a forward.
A total of 53 players showed off their skills at the selection camp. Seventeen of them were members of the Cougars.
"All the girls on our team had a really good weekend," said Cougars manager Liza Arnold. "It was a tough cut and they all did a really good job."
The B.C. Cup is part of Hockey B.C.'s high performance program. The tournament will also feature all-star teams from the Lower Mainland (2), Vancouver Island and the Kootenay and Okanagan regions.
While in Duncan, players will receive on-ice and off-ice training from B.C. Hockey's high performance coaches and will also undergo fitness testing and evaluations.
