For the second year in a row, a Prince George man will be playing for the Calder Cup, the American Hockey League championship.

Hockey fans in Prince George can watch Brett Connolly as the former Cougar leads the Syracuse Crunch, the eastern conference winner against the western conference champion Grand Rapids Griffins in the best-of-seven final, starting Saturday in Syracuse, New York.

The veteran Crunch players won the Calder Cup last season, with Prince George's Jon Cooper at the helm as head coach, when the Tampa Bay Lightning affiliate was located in Norfolk, Virginia. Cooper became the Lightning's coach earlier this year.

The Griffins are affiliated with the NHL's Detroit Red Wings.

All games in the Calder Cup final will be available for free at ahllive.com.

Games 1 and 2 are Saturday and Sunday in Syracuse, starting at 4 p.m. (PST) and 3 p.m., respectively. Games 3 and 4, and five if necessary, will be played in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, at 4 p.m. If necessary the series will return to Syracuse for Games 6 and 7, Tuesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 20 (4 p.m. game time in Prince George).

The winner of the series will be the AHL's 77th champion.
