They've traded their Prince George jerseys for Surrey sweaters but they're still northern B.C. boys.
Luke Warkentin and Liam McIlvenna, key members of the Prince George Youth Soccer Association under-14 select team two years ago, now have Surrey addresses and play for Surrey United in the B.C. high performance league.
On Thanksgiving weekend in Kamloops, Warkentin and McIlvenna helped their club team claim a Canadian title when they defeated Ontario 1-0 in the final to win the under-16 national club championship. McIlvenna, a native of Quesnel, scored the only goal of the game in double overtime.
Warkentin, who grew up in Prince George, led Surrey in scoring with five goals in five games, all of which were Surrey victories.
