The slump is now at six.

Six straight losses for the Prince George Spruce Kings and it’s not going to get any easier for them on the B.C. League road to the playoffs.

Aydar Suniev scored two goals in the second period and Casey McDonald added an empty-netter to push the Penticton Vees to 3-2 win over the visiting Spruce Kings Friday in front of 2,678 witnesses at South Okanagan Events Centre.

Nick Rheaume, with his 25th of the season, on a first-period power play, and Simon Labelle, with two seconds left in the game, also on the power play, were the Prince George goalscorers.

Carter Serhyenko made 17 saves in goal for the Vees, who outshot the Kings 36-19 in the game and 11-3 in the third period.

The Kings went 2-for-6 with the man advantage, while the Vees finished 1-for-7.

The loss to the first overall Vees (38-7-0-2-0, .830 winning percentage) dropped the Kings into fourth place in the Interior Conference standings.

The West Kelowna Warriors beat Trail 5-2 Friday and  took over third place from Prince George (25-13-3-8-0, .622).  The Warriors (28-16-1-0-0, .633) will host Prince George Saturday night to wrap up the Kings’ three-game roadtrip, which started with a 2-0 loss Wednesday in Vernon.
