The Cap-abilities Knights have plenty of pop and they're taking it to provincials.
Pop in their bats, that is.
The Knights, formed by the top 11- and 12-year-old players in the Prince George Youth Baseball Association, are in Kelowna today for the start of the peewee single-A provincial championship and have high hopes for a successful tournament.
For the Knights, run production is a definite strength.
"We have a batting lineup which is strong through our entire order," said manager Peter Campbell. "I am confident with every one of our players at the plate."
The Knights qualified for provincials by beating Quesnel in a zone playdown. The decisive blow for Prince George was a walk-off grand slam home run by Michael Judge.
Other players on the roster are Keith Arnett, Seth Lapre, Ryan Hampe, Quinten Astorino, Ajay Nickolet, Raymond Prive, Grayson Wagner, Ryan Bachand, Dawson Mckinnon, Braeden Wheeler and Liam Campbell.
"This team has gelled quickly," Peter Campbell said. "Every player on our team plays hard, supports each other and steps up to make big plays on offence and defence."
A second peewee team from Prince George will also swing the bats at provincials this weekend, as will a pair of clubs in the mosquito division.
