The Prince George LTN Contracting Knights are off to the semifinal after an extra-inning 8-7 win over the Nanaimo Pirates on Saturday afternoon.
Both the Knights and Pirates had 1-2 records heading into their head-to-head battle. The Pirates had eliminated the Aldergrove Dodgers (1-3) from playoff contention earlier in the day with an 11-6 victory.
The Knights finished second in Pool A at the 2013 Under 13 triple-A Peewee Provincial Baseball Championship and will face Vancouver Minor, winner of Pool B, in the semifinal Sunday at 10 a.m. The Knights are the first Prince George baseball team to play in the triple-A provincials.
The Cloverdale Spurs won Pool A and will play in the other 10 a.m. semifinal against the second-place team in Pool B. The final playoff spot will be determined after the final round-robin game between Vancouver Minor and Rutland today at 6 p.m.
The gold-medal game is Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spruce City Stadium.
