The Premium Truck and Trailer Cougars sure delivered on behalf of the Salvation Army.
The local peewee Tier 2 rep hockey team recently completed a food drive that saw it collect 12 pallets of goods for the local social services organization.
During the month of October, the 11- and 12-year-old players placed Northland Auto Group/Salvation Army door hangers at households throughout the city, in hopes that residents would respond by filling them with food donations. Members of the Cougars also canvassed for donations at the Parkwood Save-On-Foods and at Costco.
The team presented its haul to Salvation Army captain Neil Wilkinson at Northland Hyundai last week.
"We are humbled by this donation, and the lessons being taught our youth through minor hockey," the Salvation Army said in a statement. "It is refreshing to see values like this being a part of sport."
The Salvation Army's food bank assists more than 250 households in Prince George each day.
