Seventeen goals for, just three against.
So far, the Fortwood Homes Cougars haven't been very gracious hosts at the Omineca Source For Sports peewee Tier 4 tournament.
At the eight-team minor hockey gathering, the Cougars won their first two games in lopsided fashion. In their opener, played Friday morning at the Kin Centre, they beat Quesnel 7-0. In the Cougars' evening game, they were just as sharp in a 10-3 victory against Fort St. James.
Goal-scorers for the Cats in the win against Quesnel were Tyler Braaten (2), Zach Swanson, Evan Guillet, Tyler Lindstrom, Cameron Taylor and Micheal Rolfes. In goal, Nicholas Husband picked up the shutout.
Against Fort St. James, Liam O'Beirne led the Cougars offensively with a pair of goals. Swanson, Lindstrom, Rolfes, Taylor, Eric Orlowsky, Logan Vennberg, Nolan Dancey and Braaten also scored and Josh Fielding was the winning goaltender.
Trent Peters, Jeff Saharchuk and Cailen Saharchuk replied for Fort St. James in a losing cause.
Also Friday, Fort St. James skated to an 11-11 tie with Mackenzie. In that high-octane game, Ajay Nickolet had a remarkable 10 goals and one assist for Mackenzie and Peters fired six goals for Fort St. James.
Other teams in the tournament are Fraser Lake, Burns Lake, Houston and Chetwynd.
The Cougars will finish pool play today with a 7:45 a.m. game in Kin 2 against Mackenzie. Semifinal playoff contests are scheduled for 4:45 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Sunday's gold-medal final will be on Kin 2 ice at 9:45 a.m.
