The Duchess Park Condors are going to the P.G. Bowl.
Colburn Pearce made sure the Condors will play for the B.C. High School Football Association Northern Conference double-A varsity title when he scored four touchdowns to lead the Condors to a 38-24 win over the College Heights Cougars in a semifinal playoff Friday at Masich Place Stadium.
Pearce, a Grade 11 running back, started his end-zone parade in the second quarter when he intercepted a pass from Cougars quarterback Mitch Lukoni and ran it back 30 yards for a touchdown, the only points scored in the first half.
Pearce ran for three more majors in the second half and also contributed with his kicking leg, nailing four converts and a 30-yard field goal. Condors fullback Zack Bundock also ran in a touchdown.
The Condors advance to the P.G. Bowl on Friday against the Nechako Valley Vikings. The Vikings won their semifinal by default over the Prince George Polars when PGSS had just 11 players available. The game was forfeited days in advance of the game so the Vikings could avoid an unnecessary trip from Vanderhoof.
In the only meeting this season between the teams, Sept. 23 at Masich, the Condors posted a 35-32 win over the Vikings.
