Olson raising his stock in ARCA series

The last time he raced in Prince George, Dave Olson had to be towed across the finish line.

He wiped out only a few car lengths from the finish of last year's 100-lap ARCA West OK Tire Challenge Series race.

"That inside wall they put in last year didn't help me much and I hit it on the last lap on the last corner going for a pass," said Olson.

He's hoping that won't happen again.

The reality is, he did get hitched last weekend. It took place in Las Vegas, and it had nothing to do with stock car racing. The 22-year-old Quesnel driver married his girlfriend Brittany, the mother of their nearly-two-year-old daughter Brooklyn.

Two weeks before the honeymoon began, Olson nailed down the first main event win of his ARCA racing career, winning the 100-lap feature in Williams Lake.

"We went down there and pretty much cleaned house," said Olson, a frequent winner at Thunder Mountain Raceway in his bomber and thunder class racing days, which started at age 14.

"We didn't do so good timing in but we came out and won the heat race and won the main. The car was handling awesome. I did pretty good there before. Last year I was second and I ran out of laps."

Now in his second season racing for prize money in the province's richest stock racing class, Olson will be part of an 18-car field expected to converge on PGARA Speedway for tonight's McQuick Lube 100, the third of six series races.
