The Big Island of Hawaii has been a dangerous place the past month with molten lava erupting unpredictably and burying the land.
Kind of like how the Rated PG Northstars treated their opponents at the Big Island Brawl international roller derby tournament.
The Prince George team reeled off five straight victories to win the four-day tournament, which wrapped up June 3 in Hilo, Hawaii. In the final, the 13-member Northstars squad defeated Misery Loves Company of San Jose, Calif.
The Rated PG Roller League is now a full-fledged member of the Women's Flat Track Roller Derby Association and the Northstars have made it their mission to play more competitive bouts to increase their world ranking. They're now 183rd on a list of 349 teams.
