Fresh off her appearance at the Canada Winter Games, Grace Northrop battled to gold at the Pacific International judo tournament on the weekend.
Northrop, a Hart Judo Academy athlete who was held off the podium at the Games, was in Richmond for the Pacific International and finished with the top medal in the under-52-kilogram class for U18 girls.
Northrop wasn't the only athlete from her club who brought home some hardware. In their respective categories, Kimiko Kamstra and Lorna-Jane Simmons earned silver medals and Christopher Cormack took bronze. As well, Lavanna Laass - a silver-medalist at the Games - fought to a silver in the U21 women's under-63kg category and a bronze in under-63kg senior women's division.
The city was also represented at the Pacific International by members of the North Capital Judo Club and Prince George Judo Club.
From North Capital, Lochlan Young and Maxwell Young fought to silver medals and Nicolas Richards picked up bronze. Meanwhile, PGJC athletes Branden Edwards (silver), Kyle Wilkinson (silver), Tami Goto (bronze) and Ryan Russell (bronze) also posted podium finishes.
