The Northern Capitals have been looking up at the rest of the B.C. Hockey Female Midget Triple-A League for much of season. But, this past weekend at the Kin Centre, they battled their way to a pair of wins in three outings against the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers.
On Friday, the fifth-place Capitals fell 3-1 to the fourth-place Lakers. The next day, however, the Capitals prevailed 3-1 and they closed out the series with a 2-1 victory on Sunday.
In the five-team league, the Caps now have 5-21-0 record while the Lakers - who have played three extra games - sit at 7-20-2 and are six points ahead of their Prince George-based rival.
Goal-scorers for the Capitals during the triple-header were Camryn Scully, Sarah Jarvis, Braxtyn Shawara (2), Kelsey Dent and Caitlin White.
The Capitals have six games left in their regular season. Their next action is Friday through Sunday in Shawnigan Lake, where they'll skate against the Vancouver Island Seals. After that three-game set, the Caps will close out their regular season with home contests against the Greater Vancouver Comets, March 2-4.
