The Northern Capitals of Prince George lost 4-1 Sunday to the Okanagan Hockey Academy and were eliminated from title contention at the Mandi Schwartz Memorial tournament triple-A female hockey tournament in Wilcox, Sask.
Sage Desjardins was the lone goalscorer for the Capitals, who finished sixth out of 16 teams, ending up with a 3-2 record.
On Saturday the Capitals defeated the Saskatoon Blades, the No. 3-ranked triple-A female team in the country. Marissa Nichol scored the only goal of the game and Kelsey Roberts picked up the shutout.
Calgary Edge Academy handed the Cougars a 2-1 loss Friday night, after the Caps had beaten the host Notre Dame Hounds 2-1. The Caps opened Thursday with a 3-1 win over the Shaftsbury Titans of Winnipeg.
Notre Dame went on to win the tournament 4-3 Sunday over the Westman Wildcats.
The Capitals resume their B.C. Female Triple-A Midget Hockey League schedule this weekend in Coquitlam with a three-game series against the Greater Vancouver Comets.
