The Northern Capitals started their B.C. Female Midget Triple-A Hockey regular season on Oct. 4.
After 56 days and 13 games, they finally hit the ice on Friday at Kin 2 in front of their hometown fans in the first game of a weekend triple-header against the Vancouver Island Seals.
The Capitals did not disappoint the 140 fans in attendance defeating the Seals by a score of 6-0. Brette Kerley picked up a pair of goals in the win while Maria Ayre, Nancy Moore. Hailey Armstrong, and Keagan Goulet all had one goal a piece.
Tessa Sturgeon earned the shut-out stopping all 14 shots she faced. Vancouver Island goaltender Rachel Lee was pulled at 13:36 in the second period after letting in five goals on 27 shots and was replaced by Cassandra Beutler.
In the rematch Saturday night the Northern Capitals rolled to a 4-1 victory. Armstrong, Ayre, Goulet and Destina Bautista were the Caps' goalscorers.Elissa Benajmin scored for the Seals.
The same two teams will meet again at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning with both games being played at Kin 2.
