The ice is ready and the competition for roster spots on the Northern Capitals triple-A female midget hockey team begins today.
Players invited to try out for the Capitals, the defending B.C. champions, will gather for fitness testing today at 1 p.m. at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre at UNBC.
That will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by an on-ice skills session at the Elksentre.
The Capitals will be split into two teams for scrimmages scheduled for 10 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. on Sunday, all at the Elksentre.
Twenty-nine players have been invited to the team tryouts.
