Klarc Wilson will make his way back to Prince George after being cut from the New York Rangers training camp Sunday where he was on a professional tryout contract.
With the return of Wilson, the Prince George Cougars now have two 20-year-olds on their Western Hockey League roster, including defenceman Peter Kosterman, acquired last week in a trade with the Calgary Hitmen. The WHL allows teams to have three overage players on their roster.
The Cougars also hold the junior playing rights for centre Colin Jacobs - the team's leading scorer last season - if the Buffalo Sabres decide the Texas product needs another season of junior hockey. Jacobs signed a professional contract with the Sabres organization after finishing the 2012-13 season with their American Hockey League affiliate. As of Monday, Jacobs was one of 60 players at the Sabres training camp, though he didn't dress in the preseason opener on the weekend.
Jacobs is unlikely to crack the Sabres' roster and is battling for a spot with the AHL Rochester Americans.
The Cougars open the 2013-14 season with a three-game road swing, starting Friday night in Portland against the 2013 WHL champion Winterhawks.
