Strong wind gusts and steady snow left organizers of Friday's IBU Cup biathlon no choice but to postpone the men's and women's individual races in Aber, Germany.
That meant Matt Neumann and Sarah Beaudry of Prince George had to scuttle their plans to take a crack at the medal podium.
The race has been rescheduled for Saturday. Weather permitting, the 27-year-old Neumann will race a 20-kilometre course, preceded by Beaudry, 21, who will take part in the women's 15 km race.
Meanwhile, at the World Cup biathlon Friday in Ruhpolding, Germany, Scott Gow of Calgary finished 42nd out of 107 athletes in the men's 10 km sprint to qualify for Sunday's pursuit.
In other Canadian results, Brendan Green of Hay River, N.W.T., was 64th, Macx Davies of Canmore was 82nd and Christian Gow of Calgary was 88th.
Martin Fourcade of France claimed his 10th gold medal of the 2016-17 season, winning in 22:34.2. Julian Eberhard of Austria won silver and Emil Hegle Svendsen of Norway claimed bronze.
