Myatovic has four-point game in lopsided win over Cougars in Seattle

Seattle Thunderbirds winger Nico Myatovic had a goal and three assists in the T-birds' 8-1 win over the visiting Prince George Cougars Tuesday in Kent, Wash.

Nico Myatovic and the Seattle Thunderbirds ganged up on the Prince George Cougars.

Myatovic, an 18-year-old winger from Prince George, had a four-point night with a goal and three assists  to help the T-birds defeat the Cougars 8-1 Tuesday night in Kent, Wash.

Jordan Gustafson (three goals and an assists) and Bryce Pickford (1g 3a) also picked up four points. Kyle Crnkovic had a pair of goals as the T-birds improved their second-place WHL Western Conference record to 21-4-1-1.

Blake Eastman scored the only Prince George goal late in the second period on the power play.

Ty Young allowed six goals on 25 shots in goal for the Cougars and was replaced after 34 minutes by Madden Mukawka, who allowed two goals in 25:38 of game action. Scott Ratzlaff made 22 saves as Seattle outshot the Cougars 38-23.

It was the most lopsided loss of the season for the Cougars, who went 1-4-1-0 in their five-game roadtrip.

The Cats (14-15-1-0, fifth in West) will try to end a five-game losing streak when they take on the B.C. Division-leading Kamloops Blazers (16-6-3-2) Friday and Saturday at CN Centre, the last games for both teams before the Christmas break.

Saturday’s game is the Cougars annual Teddy and Toque Toss Night.
