Avery Movold of the Prince George Barracudas swim club stroked to four top-10 finishes at the Canadian age group championships in Calgary on the weekend.
At the long course meet (50-metre pool), Movold was fifth in the 50m freestyle and 200m backstroke and placed eighth in the 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly. In the 50 freestyle, she posted a time of 26.76 seconds. Her clocking in the 200 backstroke was two minutes 18.30 seconds and, in the 100 freestyle, she touched the wall in 59.13 seconds. In the 50 fly, Movold stopped the clock at 28.97 seconds.
Movold, who is going into Grade 11 at PGSS, also placed 11th in the 100m backstroke, 15th in the 50m backstroke, 18th in the 800m freestyle and 21st in the 400m freestyle.
Julie Wing and Patricia Fortier of the Barracudas also competed at nationals. Wing's best finish was ninth in the 50m freestyle (29.39 seconds) and Fortier's was 29th in the 400m freestyle (4:45.03).
In the team standings, the Barracudas were 62nd overall.
