Prince George minor hockey teams are taking their best shot at provincial titles this week.
Six squads, from pee wee to midget levels, are competing at B.C. Hockey Championships around the province, including Prince George.
The top bantam hockey teams are in town this week for the Farr Installations 2014 bantam Tier 1 B.C. Hockey championship.
Prince George will play host to triple-A squads from North Vancouver (North Shore Winter Club), Burnaby Winter Club, Kamloops, Cowichan Valley, Kelowna at Kin 1 arena from Monday to Thursday.
Prince George battles Burnaby Winter Club Monday at 10:30 a.m. to open the four-day tournament.
The North Shore Winter Club (North Vancouver) is up next for Prince George Tuesday at 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Prince George takes on Kamloops at 8 p.m. A 2 p.m. matinee on Thursday sees the local team face off against Kelowna.
The championship game is slated for 8 p.m. Thursday as the top-two teams battle for gold.
The Prince George peewee Tier 1 Cougars are in Vancouver their provincial championship.
They face off against teams from Cowichan Valley, Seafair (Richmond), Vancouver Thunderbirds, Burnaby Winter Club, and Kelowna.
The peewee female team is in Surrey. They'll battle North Shore, Kelowna, South Island, Richmond, and Surrey.
Prince George's Tier 4 team is in Richmond and will take on squads from North Shore, Burns Lake, Revelstoke, Victoria, and Elk Valley.
The midget Tier 1 team is in North Vancouver to battle teams from Juan de Fuca, Semiahmoo (White Rock), Kelowna and Hollyburn (West Vancouver).
The Midget Tier 2 squad is in Penticton and will face off against Saanich, Vancouver, Greater Trail, Smithers, Kelowna, and Ridge Meadows (Maple Ridge).
The gold medal final in all the championships is slated for 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Prince George's Northern Cougars, who finished second overall in the B.C. female midget triple-A league, have received a first-round bye in the playoffs and will begin their post-season next weekend.
