Megan Tandy skipped the Olympic opening ceremonies Friday but did take part in the festivities that night at Whistler to celebrate with the biathletes, cross-country skiers, alpine skiers, ski jumpers and the sliding event athletes who have moved in to Whistler Olympic Park.
"It was quite a bit bigger than we expected -- we got to put on our uniforms and march through the Whistler village square, and it was packed and there was a lot of energy," Tandy said. "We watched most of the opening ceremony on the big screen, then got to do our own little march after we watched the Canadians march in Vancouver."
