The year 2014 was chock full of highlights for Prince George Track and Field Club members Geoff Martinson and Alyx Treasure and both received provincial recognition as a result.

Martinson, a native of Prince George who lives in Vancouver, won four of five races and scored a record 4,527 points to capture the Timex B.C. Road Running Series crown for 2014 .

For his efforts he was presented the B.C. senior male road runner of the year award at the BC Athletics awards banquet earlier this month in Vancouver.

Treasure was one of three nominees for B.C. Athletics female track and field athlete of the year.

As a high jump specialist at the NCAA level with Kansas State University, she won five of nine outdoor meets, was second in the Big 12 Conference championships and finished tied for second at the NCAA championships.

In August, Treasure won the North America Central America Caribbean under-23 meet in Kamloops, where she jumped 1.85m. That came after she set a new personal best of 1.89m while winning the Canadian championship in Moncton, N.B.

Treasure is on the radar to compete for Canada at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto or the FISU University Games in Korea, which happen at the same time in July. She's also taking aim at the IAAF world championships in Beijing next August.

The PGTFC begins indoor workouts at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre in January. For more information go to the club website, pgtrackandfield.ca.
