Geoff Martinson earned a bronze medal at the 2012 Canadian Track and Field Championship and Olympic Trials on Friday but it wasn't enough to earn him a trip to London.
The 26-year-old middle distance runner finished the 1,500 metre final with a time of 3:50.75 at the Foothills Athletic Park in Calgary. Nathan Brannen (3:49.22) and Taylor Milne (3:50.07) placed first and second, respectively, to take the gold and silver medals.
Martinson has battled an Achilles injury for the past few months which has hampered his training leading up to the Olympic Trials.
Meanwhile, women's high jumper Alyx Treasure was unable to meet her PB of 1.84m in the high jump event, finishing tied for fourth place after going over the bar at 1.75m. Treasure failed to clear the bar at 1.80. Nicole Forrester of Mississauga, Ont., took gold with a jump of 1.86m.
