On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Flyers recalled Manning and Matt Konan form the Philadelphia Phantoms to shore up the blueline in the wake of a concussion injury to veteran Matt Huskins.

Manning, 22, a native of Prince George who played for the Spruce Kings and the WHL's Chilliwack Bruins, was expected to be in the lineup last night in Philadelphia, where the Flyers hosted the New York Rangers.

Considered the Flyers' top prospect at defense, Manning had six goals and 15 assists for 24 points in 65 AHL games for the Phantoms this season. This is his second stint with the Flyers, having played four NHL games at the tail end of the 2011-12 season. He signed as a free agent in 2010.

The Phantoms (30-36-3-4) are last in the AHL East and with three games left have been eliminated from playoff contention. The Flyers are still in the NHL playoff hunt but their prospects are fading. Heading into Tuesday's game against New York, they trailed the eighth-place Rangers by seven points.

The Flyers have five games left to make up that ground.
