Makenna MacWhinnie's indoor track and field season has just begun and already she's making great strides.
The 11-year-old Prince George athlete took on 24 other peewee-aged athletes at the Alberta indoor championships in Edmonton over the weekend and used her running and leaping ability to post three podium finishes - all personal bests.
MacWhinnie ran to a silver medal in the 60-metre event, stopping the clock in 9.21 seconds, was third in the 150m race (23.18 seconds) and traveled 3.71m in the long jump to claim bronze.
