Danica Ludlow is close to the ocean now in Victoria at the Swim B.C. triple-A championships and she's swimming like a fish.

Ludlow, a 14-year-old member of the Prince George Barracudas Swim Club, collected three gold medals and a bronze medal in the first two days of competition at the four-day event.

Ludlow won the 200m freestyle (2:08.45), 800m freestyle (9:32.92) and 50 freestyle (27.78), and teamed up with Patricia Fortier, Haley Black and Jessa Wing on the way to a third-place result in the 4X100m freestyle relay.

Black, 14, won gold in the 400 individual medley in 5:14.67 and got to line first in club-record time in the 100 butterfly. Her time of 1:03.88 beat her own club standard of 1:05.88, set a year ago. She also placed second in the 200 backstroke (2:25.73).

Sterling King, 15, won silver in the 15-17-year-old boys 100 fly in record time. He clocked 59.19, topping the 'Cudas mark of 59.61 set in 1998 by Robbie Dunbar. King also broke the record in the 200 freestyle while finishing second overall. He clocked 1:57.01, beating Marcin Partyka's time of 2:00.1, set in 2000.

Bailey Hardy, 14, placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:44.46), while Sava Yungman earned a bronze medal in the 14-year-old boys 100 butterfly (1:02.23). Yungman also placed sixth in the 200 free (2:07.10). Wing won bronze in the 800 free (9:39.48), was fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:30.60), and fifth in the 200 free (2:15.04). Grace Ni, 17, was fourth in the 200 back (2:24.76), Josiah Binnema, 13, was fourth in his 200 back (2:26.11) and eighth in 100 fly (1:10.12); Hannah Esopenko, 11, was eighth in the 200 breaststroke (3:15.00); while Harrison Lagzdin, 15, finished fourth in the 200 back (2:14.38).
