Danica Ludlow was one fast fish at the Swim BC provincial championships.
At the meet in Richmond, the 15-year-old member of the Prince George Barracudas touched the wall first in all six of her races and, in the process, set four meet standards. Ludlow's victories and records came in the 200-metre freestyle (two minutes 5.96 seconds), 200m backstroke (2:19.03), 800m freestyle (9:05.23) and 100m freestyle (59.32). As well, she was unbeatable in the 50m freestyle (27.57) and the 400m freestyle (4:28.63).
In total, the Barracudas left Richmond with 15 gold medals. Other golds were claimed by: 15-year-old Haley Black (100m butterfly, 1:04.31, 400m individual medley, 5:08.06, 200m IM, 2:26.54, 100m backstroke, new meet record of 1:05.79); 14-year-old Patricia Fortier (200m backstroke, 2:24.93); 15-year-old Sava Yungman (200m IM, 2:19.26) and 16-year-old Sterling King (1,500m freestyle, 16:18.62, 400m freestyle, 4:07.29).
Skylar Lewington, Jessa Wing, Hannah Esopenko, Samantha Bleackley, Adrian Lamb, Bailey Hardy, Julie Wing, Josiah Binnema and Claire Shrimpton were among the other Barracudas in the water at provincials. They combined to win seven silver medals and nine bronze medals.
In the team standings, the Barracudas finished in seventh place.
