Mr. Jake's will be shooting for gold at the BC Ball Hockey Association provincial championships in Greater Vancouver this weekend. The team will be one of 12 in its division and will be looking to improve on a fifth-place finish last year.

The first game for Mr. Jake's is Friday night against Premier 2 at the North Delta Rec Centre. On Saturday, the locals will take on the Penticton Boozers at Planet Ice in Coquitlam and the Vernon Kings back at the North Delta Rec Centre.

Teams have been divided into three pools. The winner of each pool and the club with the next-best record will advance to the playoff round.

Heading into provincials, Mr. Jake's knows it will have strong goaltending. The team's stopper is Michael Garteig, who led the Penticton Vees to national junior A ice hockey supremacy this past season. As a starter for the Vees, he piled up 41 victories during the BC Hockey League regular season and was the winning goaltender in the RBC Cup national championship game.
