Local P.G. gymnastic rep excels

In the competitive stream of the Aloha Invitational gymnastics meet, Becky Parlee was carrying the flag of the Prince George Gymnastics Club all by herself. She had no trouble managing the weight.

In the competitive stream of the Aloha Invitational gymnastics meet, Becky Parlee was carrying the flag of the Prince George Gymnastics Club all by herself.

She had no trouble managing the weight.

At the meet, in Smithers on the weekend, Parlee tested her talents in the Level 1 open category. In her individual events, she placed second on the uneven bars and third on vault, balance beam and floor exercise for an overall second-place finish.

The PGGC also had 15 interclub, or non-competitive, athletes in Smithers. They were Kelly-Ann Pighin, Kora-Mei Campbell, Kayla Hanson, Rebecca Baldridge, Monica Bronowski, Caitlyn Simunac, Sara Sands, Lexi Pelletier-Ballum, Izabella Stokes, Zoey Banks, Megan Olm, Jenna Bennell, Lindsay Van Mook, Simona Mastroianni and Jessica Floria.

On Sunday, the local club will be holding its annual Gymnaestrada, an event in which gymnasts perform their dance routines for parents and other spectators. Gymnasts who will showcase their skills are Pighin, Campbell, Hanson, Baldridge, Bronowski, Simunac, Sara Sands, Emma Sands, Kendra Cail, Anna Little, Aidan Burns, Jasmine Silver-Vickers, Amy Hackle and Cassidy Brunn.
