Local gymnasts medal in Kelowna

Seven Prince George gymnasts conquered the 2014 Ogopogo Invitational meet in Kelowna on the weekend. And five of them returned with medals around their necks.

Seven Prince George gymnasts conquered the 2014 Ogopogo Invitational meet in Kelowna on the weekend.

And five of them returned with medals around their necks.

Monica Bronowski won silver in Level 1 open all-around after winning the vault and the floor and finishing second on the bars and beam.

Kalena McCarville followed with a bronze medal in the all-around after winning the vault and earning bronze medals on the bars, beam and floor.

Jaymie Hinks won silver in Level 3 open all-around, finishing second on the vault, bars, beam and floor.

Tianna Millns won bronze in the all-around, after winning the beam and finishing third on the bars and floor and fourth on the vault.

Alia Wilson won silver in the Level 5 tyro all-around, after she won gold on the bars, silver on the beam and bronze on the vault.

Farrah Normand was ninth on the beam and 10th on the bars in Level 2 tyro.

Miranda Doerksen was ninth in the all-around in Level 4 open after she was fifth on the vault, sixth on the floor, seventh on the bars and ninth on the beam.

Doerksen and Wilson both moved up a category for the meet and proved it was time for their next challenge.

The meet was the last for the Level 1 open athletes, Bronowski and McCarville, as they're both graduating from high school and are focussing on their post-secondary education in 2014-15.
