Life just got tougher for Spruce Kings

The playoff hopes of the Prince George Spruce Kings are fading.

The playoff hopes of the Prince George Spruce Kings are fading.

The Kings fell 3-0 to the Nanaimo Clippers Friday at the Coliseum and lost more ground Saturday night in Quesnel, where the Millionaires gained a point, coming back from a 3-1 deficit to force overtime against the Clippers.

Nanaimo eventually prevailed 4-3, ending it 1:59 into overtime when Kyle Kramer stripped the puck from the Millionaires at centre and scored on a breakaway, but the damage had already been done to the Spruce Kings.

That point for the OT loss gave the seventh-place Mills a three-point bulge over Prince George in the BCHL Interior Conference standings, which is significant considering the Kings have to pass Quesnel to make the playoffs.

"It was a big point that definitely helped but we were pretty disappointed we didn't get the win," said Mills centre Chris Allbee. "But with P.G. being so tight, every point counts. They've been finding ways to win lately."
