A 14-hour drive didn't hinder Prince George boxer Kenny Lally as the five-time Canadian national champion was victorious at the 65th annual Tacoma Golden Gloves amateur boxing tournament Saturday at the University of Puget Sound.
Lally beat the five-time local champion Jerrell Barbour in the 123-pound division when his left hook caused Barbour to hit the canvas midway through the first round. At 23, Lally is a veteran of the ring having boxed in 96 amateur bouts but he's new to the 123-pound division having moved up from the 114-pound division recently.
In the 141-pound bout, Lally's teammate Jag Seehra was defeated by Tacoma's Nick Jefferson.
