It was a night of firsts at the PGARA Speedway during the first night of the annual invitational.
Four drivers celebrated either their first race wins ever or of the 2012 60th anniversary Prince George Auto Racing Association season Saturday during the Mr. G's Invitational event.
Rookie hornets driver Jordan Laing had his first checkered flag lap when he emerged victorious in the heat.
In the mini-stock class, three drivers took their checkered flag laps with their first wins this season. In the C-Dash Kristy Chapman sped away with the win, while Chris Last didn't live up to his name in the B-Heat. The other victory lap was by Breanna Pollard after she edged past Last in the B-Dash. Technically it was Pollard's second win of the season but she wasn't given a chance at a victory lap the first time.
Pollard also took the top prize in the mini-stock main event after it was called on lap 27-of-30 after three cautions and a red flag (medical emergency), when Quesnel driver Hannah Braman crashed her car into the wall ahead of the third corner after tangling with two other cars. The 16-year-old was removed from her car by paramedics after about 20 minutes and taken to the hospital in Prince George with soreness to her ribcage and wrist.
At the time of Braman's crash, Tyler Case had just surpassed Pollard but didn't have the lead long enough so Pollard earned her second win of the night.
Other hornet winners were: Kurtis Blake (B-Dash) and Jesse Roberts (A-Dash, Main).
Tyler Case won the mini-stock A-Dash, while Nathan Linfitt took the checkered flag in the A-Heat after Devin Barks was forced from the track early in the race when Case's car was rammed into his in Lawrence Barks' attempt to pass both drivers.
In the street-stocks, Shane Murphy won his first race in two years in the B-Dash and Jarret Bonn won his first of two races on the night in the A-Dash. Bonn also won the street-stock heat and was second in the main event to Dawson Creek's Adam Huitema.
Results from Day 2 of the Invitational weren't available at press time.
