Hit the ground running.

Otherwise you might miss out on a chance to compete in the Labour Day Classic road race.

The deadline for entry is today at 6 p.m. and as of Wednesday morning just 60 runners had signed up. The first 200 who register will receive Labour Day Classic T-shirt.

"We're hoping for 150 to 200 runners for the race and we're trying to encourage more people to sign up before the cutoff for race entries," said sponsorship director Austin Bartell.

The cost to enter is $45 for individual runners, $100 for teams in the 3X3-mile relay and $5 for kids in the one-kilometre fun run.

The race starts Sunday at 9 a.m. for the 17-mile runners. The kids race is at 9:15 a.m. and the 8.5-mile and five-kilometre race gets underway at 9:45 a.m.

Race packages will be available for pickup at the Civic Centre from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday or on Sunday from 8-8:30 a.m. Late registrations will be accepted only during the race package pickup sessions. On Saturday the race fees jump $55 (individuals) $110 (relay) and $10 (kids run).
