In December, the Prince George Cougars showed they were interested in forward Max Kryski when they added him to their 50-player protected list.
On Thursday, the Cats gave Kryski reassurance he figures in their plans when they signed the 2000-born prospect to a standard WHL player agreement.
The five-foot-10, 175-pound native of Kelowna now skates in the B.C. Hockey Major Midget League for the Okanagan Rockets. In 27 games he has 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points, tied for sixth in league scoring.
"We've been following Max's progress very closely this season and to us it was a no-brainer to get him listed and signed as quickly as possible after seeing him put up huge numbers in the B.C. Major Midget League," said Cougars general manager Todd Harkins. "Max reminds me a lot of Colby McAuley. He finishes every check, provides energy for his teammates and he's got good finish around the net."
Kryski, who turns 17 on April 28, is the younger brother of 18-year-old Calgary Hitmen forward Jake Kryski. Max played one game this season in the B,C. Hockey League for the West Kelowna Warriors. Last season he picked up nine goals and 15 points in 36 games for the Okanagan Hockey Academy bantam prep team.
