Kodiaks take tournament losses

In a howling wind, three of the Prince George Kodiaks teams were unable to whip up a victory on the second day of the Les Sinnott provincial B boys tournament, dealing a blow to their playoff chances.

With losses Friday the tier 2 under 14, under 16 and under 18 Kodiaks all have only one game remaining before the playoff round begins. The under 14 (B) Kodiaks lost 6-0 to Terrace, while the under 16 Kodiaks lost to Terrace 2-0. Finally the under 18 (B) Kodiaks fell 4-0 to Bulkley Valley Rapids (Smithers).

The under-18 Kodiaks have a 0-1-1 record and will end pool play today against Pinnacles FC (Penticton). Meanwhile the under 16 Kodiaks have a 1-1 record and wrap up action in the A pool today against Kelowna United. Both Prince George teams play at 4 p.m.

In the under 14 division, the Kodiaks B team has an 0-2 record. They'll try to score their first goal of the tournament when they face Pinnacles FC today at 4 p.m.

* The PGYSA girls teams are having better success at their provincial events in North Vancouver. The under-14 girls beat Powell River 3-1 in their opening game Thursday, while the under-13 girls were 4-2 winners over Port Moody.
