The Prince George 16-and-under Kodiaks nearly sunk their teeth into gold at last weekend's club volleyball provincial tournament in Abbotsford.
The Kodiaks, coached by Jeremy Staveley, battled Fraser Valley in the championship match and were forced to accept a 15-12 loss in the third and deciding set. Two members of the Kodiaks -- Mitch Duthie and Trevor Zemlak -- were selected as tournament all-stars.
Local results from other divisions were as follows: Girls -- 16-and-under Kodiaks Black, fifth in Division 2; 16-and-under Kodiaks White, 12th in Division 2; 15-and-under Kodiaks Black, 15th; 15-and-under Kodiaks White, third in Division 3. Liza Cupp, a member of the 15-and-under Kodiaks White team, was also recognized as an all-star.
All teams were representing the Prince George Youth Volleyball Club.
