A rested and ready Prince George Kodiaks will be facing the Langley Rams this Saturday at Masich Place Stadium. 7 p.m. start.
The 2-4 Rams sit one place ahead of the 1-4 Kodiaks in the B.C. Football Conference standings and the contest is being billed as "must win" on the Kodiaks' Facebook page.
Kodiaks head coach Keon Raymond agreed with that assessment and expressed respect for the Rams.
"They're a little young but they're a solid football team," he said and noted that Corey Philpot, a memorable member of the B.C. Lions when he played in the Canadian Football League, is their head coach. The Rams have given up the second-fewest points in the BCFC, Raymond also noted.
Raymond said the key for the Kodiaks will be to "play our brand of football."
"Just making sure all 12 guys are running to the ball and tackling," he said. "A lot of the game is going to deal with special teams so we just got to make sure that we do our job."
The Rams lost 23-22 to the Valley Huskers this past weekend while the Kodiaks had a bye after a 35-0 defeat at the hands of the first-place Okanagan Sun.
Raymond hopes the loss will be a learning experience for the Kodiaks.
"I think it was one of those games where you can't come down and play a good football team and play mediocre and make mistakes and expect to win," he said. "They did all the little things right and we didn't."
This Saturday's game will be preceded by a "Bear Walk" from Carrie Jane Gray Park to Masich Place, 4:30 p.m. start, and gates at the stadium gates open at 5 p.m. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
