Kodiak Classic kicks off this weekend

The 2013 Kodiak Classic for junior boys and junior A and B girls volleyball will be played this weekend at D.P. Todd, PGSS and CNC with the finals at the college.

The 2013 Kodiak Classic for junior boys and junior A and B girls volleyball will be played this weekend at D.P. Todd, PGSS and CNC with the finals at the college.

There are eight teams entered in the junior boys and junior girls B high school volleyball divisions while the junior A girls division has nine teams entered in the two-day tournament.

Teams in Pool A of the junior boys division are Kelly Road Roadrunners, College Heights Cougars 1, Cedars Eagles and Duchess Park Condors 2. Pool B consists of D.P. Todd Trojans, PGSS Polars, Duchess Park Condors 1 and College Heights Cougars 2.

The gold-medal game for the junior boys goes Saturday, 7:30 p.m. alongside the championship game for the junior A girls. The junior B girls play for gold at 5:10 p.m. at PGSS.

Teams entered in the junior A girls tournament are:

Pool C - Duchess Park Condors, D.P. Todd Trojans, PGSS Polars, Chetwynd Cavaliers.

Pool D - College Heights Cougars, Cedars Eagles, Kelly Road Roadrunners, Hudson's Hope and Caledonia.

The junior B girls teams are:

Pool E - D.P. Todd Trojans, Cedars Eagles, Kelly Road Roadrunners, Chetwynd Cavaliers.

Pool F - College Heights Cougars, Duchess Park Condors, PGSS Polars, Skeena.

Play begins Friday, 2 p.m. at all three venues.

- The Junior Kodiaks tournament takes a break Friday night so the players can take in the CIS men's volleyball exhibition match between the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack and the UBC-Okanagan Heat at the Northern Sport Centre. Game time is 7 p.m. Tickets are $5.
