The road to the provincial triple-A baseball championship stops this weekend in Kamloops for the Prince George LTN Contracting peewee Knights.

They'll be there to take their swings in the Sussex Insurance Invitational tournament.

Coming off a four-game sweep of Vernon two weeks ago in Prince George, the Knights (17-7-1 so far this season), begin the tournament Friday night against Sherwood Park, then face Chilliwack and host Kamloops on Saturday. A top-two finish in pool play is required to advance to Sunday's playoff round.

The Knights will host the triple-A provincial tournament, Aug. 8-11 at Spruce City Stadium. They're entered in the Valley of Champions tournament in Kelowna, July 12-14 and the team is in the process of arranging a few more triple-A level games for later in the month.

The Knights' roster includes Seth Lapre, Ryan Hampe, Quinten Astorino, Mikey Schwab, Zach Swanson, Matt Siemens, Tommy Kreitz, Brevin Gervais, Liam Campbell, Brett Mero, Soren Erricson and Ajay Nickolet. Coaches are Jim Swanson, Denny Astorino, Brad Kreitz, Keith Hampe and Ray Siemens.

Zach Swanson, a pitcher/infielder, and his father Jim, the Knights head coach, will leave the team on Saturday to join the B.C. Selects, a provincial all-star team squad that will represent the province at the Continental Amateur Baseball Association 12-and-under World Series tournament in Mason, Ohio, July 3-8. Team B.C. is the defending champion, going undefeated in last year's tournament.
