Against tough competition, the Pacific Western Helicopters Knights couldn't get off the ground.
The Knights, a bantam single-A rep team from the Prince George Youth Baseball Association, went 0-2 on the first day of play at the Valley of Champions tournament in Kelowna. The Knights are facing double-A teams and lost Friday games to Vancouver (6-4) and the Okanagan Tigers (26-8).
Against Vancouver, the 13- and 14-year-old Knights played well but suffered the consequences of a bad fourth inning. In the fourth, they surrendered four runs and weren't able to battle back.
For the Knights, the highlight was a three-run home run by Bryan Allbee. He was later named his team's player of the game.
Dakota Curry and Bailey Mcfaul shared the pitching duties for Prince George.
In the blowout loss against the Okanagan, the only memorable moments for the Knights came at the plate. Allbee, Mcfaul and Curry all blasted home runs, and Curry's was a grand slam. He was picked as the Knights' game MVP.
On the mound, Allbee, Mathew Knight and Craig Budskin all saw action.
Today, the Knights will take on West Kelowna and Surrey.
