The Prince George IDL Midget Knights ran their record to a perfect 3-0 with a 12-1 win over the Ridge Meadows Royals.
With the win the Knights secured first place in Pool B of the 2012 B.C. Minor Midget double-A tournament, rendering their final round-robin game against the Victoria Wolves meaningless for the hosts.
The semifinals are Sunday at 10 a.m. with the Knights facing the second-place team out of Pool A on Citizen Field, while the top team from Pool A squares off with the second-place team from Pool B. The championship final is slated for 2 p.m.
After a four-hour rain delay Friday the three o'clock games between Ladner and the Tri City Cubs on Citizen Field resumed in the top of the fourth inning with the Cubs leading 5-4. The game between the Vancouver Community Mounties and the Cloverdale Spurs was played after the first game ended, due Rotary Field's rain-soaked conditions.
The Vancouver Community Mounties (0-2) and the Cloverdale Spurs (1-2) were in the fourth inning of play when the skies opened.
Tournament organizers were hopeful that Rotary Field would be playable by late morning Saturday.
Both of Friday's late games were rescheduled for Saturday morning.
The Tsawwassen A's (3-0) will face the Duncan Nationals (1-1) at 8 a.m. on Citizen Field followed by the Knights and Wolves (0-2) at 10:30 a.m.
The skills competition was a casualty of Mother Nature in order to get the delayed games in.
After the two rescheduled games are done the regular Saturday schedule will resume with Tri City vs. Kelowna, Cloverdale vs. Ridge Meadows, Duncan vs. Ladner and Victoria vs. Vancouver Community. Game times are TBA.
