The Prince George Spruce Kings will have a chance to solidify their place in the B.C. Hockey League standings when they play games tonight in Surrey and Friday in Coquitlam.
The Kings currently sit third in the BCHL's Mainland Division with a record of 9-10-0-2. Entering Wednesday action, they were six points ahead of both the Surrey Eagles (6-12-2-0) and Coquitlam Express (6-13-0-2), who were fifth and sixth respectively in the division. Sandwiched between those two clubs and the Kings were the fourth-place Langley Rivermen (6-10-3-1), who were four points back of Prince George.
After a sluggish start to the season, the Kings have been heating up lately. In their past 10 games, they have skated to a 6-3-1-0 record.
Against the Eagles this season, the Spruce Kings have gone 2-0 and have a goal differential of plus-11. They pounded the Eagles 11-2 on Oct. 22 and beat them 4-2 the next day, both those games on home ice.
The Kings and Express, meanwhile, battled to a 3-3 tie on Oct. 28 in Prince George, and the Kings prevailed 6-4 the following day.
After these two games, the Spruce Kings will start an eight-game home-stand next Friday against the Nanaimo Clippers. The stretch of home dates will take the Kings all the way through Dec. 9, when they welcome the Langley Rivermen.
